Join the 2028 WaitlistScholar Benefits
A B3D deployment is an investment in your scholarly identity, global presence, and long-term academic career. Here is what participating Black doctoral professionals and scholars receive.
Gain a credential that few Black scholars hold: a verified record of international academic engagement at universities and institutions abroad, strengthening your global scholarly profile.
Build lasting relationships with faculty, researchers, and academic leaders across continents, opening doors to future collaborations, speaking invitations, and institutional partnerships.
Contribute your expertise to institutions that benefit from your perspective while gaining new insights, pedagogical approaches, and research connections that enrich your own scholarly work.
International engagement strengthens tenure and promotion portfolios, grant applications, and academic CVs, positioning you as a globally recognized scholar and thought leader in your field.
Experience Diaspora-connected destinations through curated cultural programming, heritage immersion, and community engagement, with free time for rest and personal restoration built into every itinerary.
While compensation is not an initial benefit of the B3D deployment program, scholars who establish strong relationships with host institutions may develop pathways to paid engagements, consulting arrangements, and compensated partnerships in future opportunities.

The Process
Submit your information to join the B3D waitlist and receive priority access to application details for the 2028 Academic Deployment Cohort.
When applications open, submit your academic profile, areas of expertise, preferred engagement types, and destination interests. B3D reviews all applications to ensure strong alignment with partner institutions.
Selected scholars are matched with partner universities and institutions based on expertise, availability, and institutional needs. B3D handles the institutional outreach and partnership coordination on your behalf.
Accepted cohort members receive comprehensive pre-departure support including logistical guidance, cultural orientation, engagement preparation, and community connection with fellow cohort scholars.
Your two-week deployment is structured in two distinct phases. Week 1 is Academic Deployment: you engage with your host institution through guest lectures, workshops, research collaboration, teaching, or speaking engagements. Week 2 is cultural heritage exploration: you participate in curated heritage tours, community immersion, culinary experiences, and Diaspora-connected cultural programming throughout your destination. Free time for rest and relaxation is built into the itinerary so you return home restored as well as inspired.
Return with expanded international visibility, a strengthened global network, new research collaborations, and a portfolio of international academic engagement that advances your career and amplifies your scholarly impact.
